Reforms for Women

My husband allways tells me to act good in society. To be present, but to not voice my opinion, to be humble, and to not show much intelligiance outside the arts. I wish to be treated as any other man is treated, as a member of society, not a society member's wife! I have talked to Catharine Beecher and I have come to a realization that wearing a corset is not a fashionable thing. The reason why I keep on having dizzy spells is because I can not breathe! I have adopted the loose clothes that Amelia Bloomer designed and I have decided to excercise. I have even convinced my sister to wear Bloomers with me! (Much to our husbands displeasure.) Staying home and reciting poetry is not going to improve my health!

If "all men are equal" why aren't we considered? We are women! This is a nation that was designed on equal rights. Women make up half of the nation and therefor should be considered as equals as men. We are all God's children and equal in his eyes. We should be equal in man's eyes too.
